They were so bright and clear; The purest drops of water; They were the same, alike Like twin sister and brother. . . But they forgot the truth as they walked through life: “Only your opposite can be your other half” __________ *azucena: the Spanish name of the white lily. It’s usually associated with purity and innocence.

Dear diary: We canceled the engagement dinner. Christine said she wasn’t feeling well, and, of course, we wouldn’t have our engagement party without her. So, we canceled . . . again. I’m really worried about her. It had been nearly a month since I rescued her from the nightmare she lived in the Paris Opera House, but she doesn’t seem to get over it. She has withdrawn inside herself. She hardly speaks. Often she keeps staring out of the window, quietly and silent . . . and then, suddenly she breaks into sobs. I try to sooth her, telling her over and over again that the nightmare is over, that the monster is gone, forever.
